Project Overview:

A cutting-edge corporate start-up from the biggest reinsurance company in the world is looking for GIS Engineer to accelerate the release timeline. The product is Location Risk Intelligence system, which has already won first large customers and is in the process of scaling up:

Location Risk Intelligence supports you in the assessment of natural hazard risks worldwide, from individual risks to entire risk portfolios.

Location Risk Intelligence (Natural Hazards Assessment Network) accelerates your business processes and supports portfolio control and claims management.

Location Risk Intelligence is based on the systematic global collection of hazard data at the biggest reinsurance company in the world over the past four decades. This extensive scientific knowledge, combined with the risk modelling developed within the company, forms the basis of our offering, which consists of global and national risk assessments, spatial analyses and loss overviews.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize geospatial data and features for Geoweb throughout the pre-processing, automatisation and deployment of data and services, specifically with wildfires modeling creation;
• Enhance our customer facing REST APIs with new data and services;
• Implement features, analyses and processing services;
• Write clean, scalable, maintainable, and easy-to-read code for data crunching;
• Collaborate with other stakeholders during the conception stage;
• Coordinate changes to the data with our test developers;
• Bring in own ideas to help improve all aspects of our applications.

Requirements:

Technical Must have:

• PostgreSQL with PostGIS;
• GDAL;
• GIS Software skills in QGIS & ESRI ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro;
• Python (specially experience in the geospatial context);
• High Automatisation skills on geospatial data;
• High level of quality awareness for geospatial data.

Technical Nice to have:

• Scientific expertise in Geospacial field, preferably with wildfires modelling;
• GeoServer;
• OGC Webservices;
• JavaScript skills of Web Mapping Frameworks like OpenLayers.

Personal Must have:

• Good communication skills;
• Willingness to work in an agile team;
• Team player;
• Self-responsible;
• Motivated;
• Drive;
• Good English skills (German optional).
